Meet our new puppy – Moxie!

Pat and Linda with Vinny and Moxie

Ooops I did it again ;)

Well who would have thunk it… we now have two miniature dachshunds. Some of you may have already seen Moxie on the Savvy Club drawing video clip last week, she is our new addition and, as I said to Pat, she is not for us, she is for Vinny!

I spend so much time writing that poor Vinny sometimes gets a bit frustrated with me not playing with him when he wakes up! Being a LBE, he has a lot of energy, high play drive and I finally decided that he should have a playmate.

I emailed Cheri, his breeder, in the hopes that she would sell me his sister, Ginger, but Cheri said she just couldn’t part with her and possibly Vinny’s mother was pregnant again. In adding up the months, I decided to go shopping for a puppy rather than wait. It’s a busy summer, we’ve got a bit of travel coming up and I really wanted to get Vinny a playmate sooner rather than later.

So I found Moxie. We went to pick her up a week ago and I remember us looking into the crate and gasping at how tiny and cute she was. About 3 hours later I remember saying to myself “What was I thinking?!” Now I’ve got two puppies to deal with and only one is house-trained!

But that worry didn’t last long. Moxie turned out to be so cuddly and so much fun, she’s actually quite feisty and Vinny just loves her.
I’m trying to figure out her doganality and I think she is RBE. She’s every bit as playful and spirited as Vinny but less independent, more interested in leadership. We’ll see, it’s only been a week and she’s only 8 weeks old. And today as I sat in the sun with Vinny and Moxie for about 10 minutes, I was thoroughly entertained by her jumping all over him wrestling his head and biting his ears… and so was Vinny.

I should mention here that Pat chose her name and it’s right on. She has a lot of moxie!

Yours Naturally,
Linda

Enjoy her while she’s little it doesn’t last nearly as long as it should they’re only babies for a little while and then they grow up and you miss that cute lil pound of pup that they once were LOL our pound baby is now 25 pounds of pure rotten but we love them just as much. Enjoy
always natural,

I love the two miniature dachshunds and as the proud owner of two mini dachshunds myself I can attest to the greatness of the breed. I cannot imagine my life without a dachshund in it and I hope that they bring you as much joy as mine have brought me!

Linda, just had share this one. Our doxie, Pandy,(for Pandemonium) came into the house the other night after one of her “hunts”. I was sitting on the sofa watching t.v. and she came and lay down by my feet. After a couple of minutes, she moved to a spot about 5 feet away from me and just sat there staring at me. I looked at her and she had a funny look on her face. Just then my peripheral caught sight of the present she had brought me…a huge dead rat! (Texas-sized “ICH”) Yep, sitting right there on my living room carpet, close enough that I would have stepped on it! Time for the husband to enter the stage and take over. Pandy was so proud of her little gift. She and the carpet got a bath that night! These guys are born hunters as I’m sure you already know. Maybe she’ll bring home something useful someday like a deer. Ha! Ha!

Linda and Pat, Congrats on the new little one. My husband and I live in Putnam County, near Marion County, Fl. We too have two little Doxies and actually my entire family has them. My son just got a new one last week. They are just wonderful additions to any family. I just started your program and have a wonderful Parelli Instructor, Karen Woodbury. – So in closing, thanks for all you do to make this world a much better place for horses, humans and now little doxies.

How lovely, Linda! No one can ever have too much cuteness! I LOVED meeting Vinny, you, and Pat at the VA show :) Well done on adopting Moxie — can’t wait to see her perform with you guys!
I really enjoy reading your blog Linda – you are all too amazing and I really want to thank you and Pat for doing this program – it has really, really changed my view on horses, as well as my relationship with them. A real dream come true.

Naturally,
Esther
